Staying On Course Is Important

Scripture 2 Kings 18 ; 2 Kings 19 ; 2 Chronicles 32 ; James 5:11 (MSG) 11 What a gift life is to those who stay the course! You've heard, of course, of Job's staying power, and you know how God brought it all together for him at the end. That's because God cares, cares right down to the last detail.

Observation: I always say that God is good all the time. Anyone who knows me knows that those words are my motto for life.

Application: The OT reading this morning reminds me that God is in control and nothing can beat that fact. I have also been reminded that when I get off track God will do something to remind me where I need to be on the road to life. Sometimes I get on my high horse and everything is about me. That is when God will step in and use something or someone to remind me that God is number one and not me at all.
James writes that I must stay on course. In other words, stay in a good relationship with God and stay in love with God. I do that by prayer, study, and action and I do that by keeping close contact with those who know the blessing of the gift of life, which God has given.
If I do my best then God will bring it all together for me. Just as he did for Hezekiah becaused he knew that God would bring it all together for him and his people if he stayed in right relationship with God.
What does your relationship with God look like today?

Prayer: Lord, I pray that you would always gently remind me to stay close to you and that your gift of life is my reward. Love Stephen

Yieldedness: I give up any notion that I am in control of this life.
